We will shortly be providing Mobile Post Office facilities to 13 villages within the West Yorkshire area. Many Post Office branches have closed down over the years and many rural and semi-rural communities have been left without a service. Hopefully the mobile van will provide a valuable service whereby you can use Post Office services without the need to make a special journey into town.
The Mobile Post Office can be used for the majority of Post Office services such as:-
- Cash withdrawals
- Cash deposits (Business & Personal)
- Cheque deposits
- Home shopping returns
- Special delivery items
- Bill payments
One of the great things about the mobile service is that we’re able to offer the same product range as we do at our branch in Kirkburton.
The areas we will be visting are:-
Brockholes
Farnley Tyas
Grange Moor
Kirkheaton
Kirkthorpe
Upperthong
Netherton
Overton
Robertown
Scholes
Shelley
Shepley
Upper Hopton
What a great idea! When does it start?
We’ve just moved to Shepley, and we’re disappointed to find that the Post Office no longer exists.
Hi Shepley starts Thursday 6th August 13:15 to 14:15 in the Black Bull car park
Where abouts in Shelley will you be? This will be great for my mum.
Thanks
It is on the “pull-in” at the rear of the community charge.
What a brilliant idea, sure it will be well used.
When will it start at Kirkheaton and where will it be sited please?
Hi Sue
It will start in Kirkheaton Tuesday 3rd August 12.15 to 13.15 and then Thursday 5th August 9.15 to 10.15. Then every Tues/Thu (same times). It will be located outside Kirkheaton Spice opposite Costcutter
Thank you in advance for this service, but why twice weekly at some, but not others, please?
I notice you’re allowing an hour for business, and a quarter of an hour for travelling. I guess there will be “slippage” when/if business is not concluded at a previous location?
Hi. The visit frequency is based on the footfall of the previous branch and historic visits.Kirkheaton has 2 visits becuase it had a large footfall. Shelly has 2 visits because we have been providing outreach services to the village for a number of years. Regarding “slippage”, this is a new service we are providing and the first few weeks will be trial and error and changes will probably have to be made. We have kept Monday free so if we do need to move visits/times around we have some flexibility. Furthermore we will review the locations after 6 months to see if the service would be better off in a different location, but at the same time it maybe a location needs more visits. Hope that answers your question.
Thank you for your prompt and informative reply; it’s “all to try for”.
